The Step-Stool Project: Woodworking Basics

Description:
Join us for a half-day hands-on carpentry workshop where you'll build your very own solid wood step stool from start to finish. Perfect for beginners and hobbyists looking to develop practical woodworking skills, this session offers a rewarding introduction to small furniture making.
All materials will be provided, and you'll leave with a personalised handcrafted step stool to take home.
Working with pine timber, you’ll learn how to:
Measure and mark timber accurately for stool components
Cut and shape pieces using hand tools and basic power tools
Use joinery techniques to assemble a strong, balanced structure
Sand and finish your stool for a smooth, professional look
Whether you're new to woodworking or looking to sharpen your skills, this workshop is a great way to build confidence and create something useful with your own hands.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a fully finished Step-Stool, crafted by you and ready to take home.
This class is also be a great summer activity if teenagers would like to try carpentry first time or improve on their skills (All instructors are enhanced CRB checked and are experienced teachers)

What you need to bring:
Please wear sensible (sturdy) shoes and comfortable workshop clothing, that may get dusty
Feel free to bring a Packed lunch, but there are also shops nearby

You’ll also have the opportunity to personalise your table with a custom engraving using the Shaper Origin—a handheld CNC machine - that allows for precise, creative detailing into the table top.
